August Networking Event: Get Curious about Weight Inclusivity!
The DC Dietitians are gathering again! Are you looking to grow your professional network or just connect with other dietitians in a casual setting? Join us Wednesday, August 7th at the Clarendon Whole Foods (Arlington) for an evening of networking and learning!
This time, we’re diving into what it means to be more weight inclusive in our field. Maybe you’ve heard about weight stigma, and weight-inclusive practices, but aren’t quite sure what to think. Maybe you’ve done some reading, and decided it’s not right for your practice. Maybe you’re somewhere in between. Join us for a night of discussion around weight-inclusive practices–what it means to be inclusive, and how health is incorporated into the conversation. Our featured speaker, Heather Caplan RD of Weight Inclusive Nutrition and Dietetics (WIND), will give an overview of weight inclusivity, provide ways it can be applied to any career, from media and communications, clinical or private practice, to non-traditional jobs.
Join us to talk about questions or hesitations you have, trends you see, and share issues impacting your area of dietetics. Heather will also share resources available from WIND for learning more about weight inclusivity.
The evening’s schedule is as follows:
6 – 6:30: Check in and networking
6:30 – 7: Weight inclusivity intro and discussion
7 – 8: Networking
Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Whole Foods. This event is free and open to registered dietitians, dietetic technicians registered, dietetic interns, and nutrition students.
