2007 Outstanding Nutrition Entrepreneur Award Winner

Christine M. Palumbo, MBA, RD, of Naperville, Illinois, is the 2007 Outstanding Nutrition Entrepreneur of the Year. The Nutrition Entrepreneurs (NE) Dietetic Practice Group will honor Christine at the annual American Dietetic Association Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In recognition for her outstanding achievement that embodies the spirit of NE, Christine will receive a commemorative plaque and a $1,000 check during the NE Networking Breakfast in Philadelphia on October 1, 2007.

Christine is dedicated to the field of dietetics, and she is an inspiration to many with her “never give up” attitude. In short, Christine credits her success to three traits—relationship building, persistence, and fearlessness.

Christine completed her didactic requirements at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota and then went on to do her internship at Unity Hospital in Fridley, Minnesota. She decided to pursue a Masters of Business Administration with a marketing concentration, which she completed at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.

With 30 years of experience in the field, Christine has built an impressive resume and client list. She has been able to educate the general public, her students and personal clients on a variety of nutrition topics. Her expertise has targeted various corporations, associations and universities. Christine has appeared as a nutrition expert for various forms of media, including the Oprah show and writes a nutrition column for Allure Magazine.

Throughout her career, Christine has given countless volunteer hours to the profession. She is a past Chair of the Nutrition Entrepreneurs DPG and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Dietetic Association. For her entire career, she has participated in some capacity with the Illinois Dietetic Association and its Chicago area districts. In addition, Christine continues to be a role model and mentor to many nutrition professionals; not only those starting out, but also those who are ready to take their business to the next level by developing and establishing a presence in the nutrition community and public arena.
