Robin Plotkin has been in the business of food for 20 years. Since her ice cream dipping days at Frosty’s in Peoria, Illinois, she has maintained her passion for food, the culinary arts and nutrition throughout her career.

Robin launched her culinary and nutrition communications consulting business in 2003. Her unique niche of combining food and nutrition expertise with sales, marketing and public relations experiences have landed her a diverse client base including: Glaceau Waters, Sara Lee, Bausch and Lomb, Proctor and Gamble, Tenet Healthcare Foundation, Taco Bueno Restaurants, Fisher Pay Kel Appliances and The American Institute of Wine and Food. You’ll also find her frequently quoted in the media well as stirring things up in the kitchen and classroom as she teaches creative ways to balance eating and living well to students of all ages.

Robin is a Texas Dietetic Association Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year award winner and the recipient of the Dallas Dietetic Association Media Award. She Co-Chaired the Texas Dietetic Association annual Food and Nutrition Conference for 2008, a conference that garnered record-breaking numbers. She also serves as an advisor for the Art Institute of Dallas’ Culinary Arts program and the North Texas Food Bank Nutrition Committee. She frequently mentors students and young dietitians as they carve their niche in the nutrition and food world by encouraging them to look over, under and around the box….not just outside of it.

Lauren’s 25 years of marketing communications experience include food labeling, public relations, freelance writing and cultural dietary practices. She established Concept Nutrition, Inc. in 1990 for effective delivery of accurate food messages.

Among her most notable accomplishments, Lauren established the Regulatory Affairs department for Vlasic Foods International World Headquarters and developed label copy for major product brands; has published numerous articles in Prepared Foods, Wellness Foods, Food & Drug Law Update among others; was Contributing Nutrition Editor for Heart & Soul and Food Processing magazines; co-authored the country’s first healthy soul food cookbook – The Black Family Dinner Quilt; presented at leading professional conferences; appeared on television nationwide and interviewed on NPR; and guest lectured at New York University, the University of Delaware and St. Joseph’s University Food Marketing program.

Lauren received the 1994 Outstanding Entrepreneur Award and has an MS in Nutrition Communications from Boston University and a BS in Medical Dietetics from Howard University.

Jean R. Caton is a speaker, business and lifestyle coach, and marketing strategist. She is the owner of McKinley Coaching and Consulting, LLC. Shelley is the Sr. Clinical Nutritionist at the University of New Mexico Employee Health Promotion Program (EHPP), the wellness program for faculty and staff. She also contracts with the Student Health Center at UNM and consults with various community organizations.

Shelley has been a member of ADA since she was a student and has been active in the New Mexico Dietetic Association (NMDA) serving on the board by holding various offices including President, and currently serving as the Public Policy Coordinator. She was the New Mexico Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year in 2002. In addition to NE DPG, Shelley is also a member of the SCAN DPG.

Professional interests include health and wellness, fitness and nutrition, bone health, cardiovascular disease, weight management, and speaking and writing for the public. Shelley has completed several half marathons and is training for her first marathon for the fall of 2008. She also enjoys camping, skiing, and eating good food with her husband and teenage son.

Jessica Bowhall, a registered dietitian and co-founder/co-owner of Forever Wellness, LLC, is a Northern Michigan native and currently resides in Traverse City, Michigan. She obtained her undergraduate degree in dietetics from Central Michigan University; completed the CMU Dietetic Internship primarily through Munson Medical Center in Traverse City; and finished her graduate work in Business Administration/Marketing through University of Phoenix.

Professional groups she is affiliated with include the American Dietetic Association (ADA) through which she is a member of the Nutrition Entrepreneur (NE) practice group and the Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness (SCAN) practice group.

Locally, Jessica is very active in the Let’s Get Moving Northern Michigan program for the Grand Traverse Community. Other local affiliations include TIPDON – Northern Michigan’s Diabetes Outreach Network, and various health clinics.

Wendy Jo is fired up on nutrition! As owner of Edible Nutrition, Wendy Jo collaborates with San Diego Sports Medicine to “fire up” San Diego County firefighters on health and wellness. She combines her culinary background with nutrition to kick-up the heat in the firefighters’ kitchens and nutritionally prepare them for the job ahead.

Wendy Jo has traveled throughout the United States as a military wife, and changed “hats” many times. She currently serves as an Ombudsman (spouse liaison) for her husband’s command, and provides nutrition education for the Naval Special Warfare community. She has an overwhelming since of pride and dedication to those dealing with the aftermath of 9/11.

Pam Cornelius, RD and personal trainer, has been assisting, supporting, teaching, coaching, and inspiring clients in the wellness field for 15 years. She helps busy clients balance food and fitness for optimum wellness. Pam currently serves on the board of the Charlotte Dietetic Association and assists the North Carolina state board with increasing membership, engagement and volunteerism of North Carolina RD’s. Pam is an active participant in local NE mini meetings.

She began her career with a BS in exercise science from Kansas State University and is an MS degree candidate at Winthrop University in South Carolina. Pam likes to bring energy and enthusiasm to all of her projects.

She is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is a member of the IDEA fitness association, and the Weight Management and Nutrition in Complementary Care DPG’s. Pam enjoys being a part of the NE DPG, and thinks it is one of the most valuable benefits of the ADA membership! In her spare time she enjoys yoga, cooking, and coaching young girls in a community based, self-esteem building running program.

Kimberly is Project Manager for three NIH funded grants at Tufts University. She trains staff at domestic and international study sites to collect adequate nutrition and body composition data.

Kim is also Co-Founder of Smart Nutrition Application & Practice (SNAP), a nutrition consulting company specializing in corporate wellness programs. Kim teaches nutrition courses at Emerson College and the Boston Conservatory.

Kim is involved with the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Dietetic Association and currently is the Director of Career Pathways & Awards. She worked with ADA on the Evidence Analysis Library as the Lead Analyst for the HIV/AIDS project in 2005. Kendrin is co-founder of Smart Nutrition Application & Practice, where she works with corporate clients on health promotion and employee wellness and with individual clients in a private counseling setting. Kendrin also works as a Clinical Nutrition Specialist in the Adolescent Clinic at Children’s Hospital, Boston and teaches several online continuing education courses at Framingham State University. Kendrin is the creator of The SonneWheel™, a Pediatric BMI assessment tool.

In addition to serving on the NE board, Kendrin has served on the Massachusetts Dietetics Association Board of Directors and the New England Regional Chapter of the Society of Adolescent Medicine Executive Board. Penny owns Eating for Performance, which specializes in sports nutrition and weight management. She has worked with a variety of clients from those who are becoming athletes to those competing in Iron Man distance triathlon events.

Penny received her Bachelor of Science with a Major in Nutrition and completed the Internship at the University of Houston. She is a past LEAH Fellow (Leadership Education in Adolescent Health) that provided opportunities to work with a variety of adolescent and young adult patients from those at a homeless shelter, to a college wellness center and an elite ballet academy. Penny also works as a consulting dietitian and teaches Sports Nutrition at the University of Houston. Recently, she has returned to school to pursue a PhD in Kinesiology. Her research involves insulin resistance and cellular cholesterol content. Penny is also actively involved in volunteer programs in the community including being an active member of the Houston Junior League and Child Advocates. Penny raced bicyclescompetitively on the road and velodrome and is now competing in triathlons.

Dietetics is a career change for Penny who has a Bachelors in Business Administration with a major in Management Information Systems from the University of Houston. She worked in process and technology consulting for approximately ten years before deciding to change careers. During her business career, she worked with many Fortune 500 companies selecting and implementing technology and re-engineering the associated processes.

Carol Plotkin, MS, RD, is the owner of ON Nutrition, a private nutrition practice in Rochester, NY which combines outpatient counseling, sports nutrition, writing, and corporate wellness. As the chair of the Authors' Specialty Group, I enjoy helping authors and writers find the answers to their publishing problems and concerns. We have lively interaction via email, conference calls and FNCE meetings.

I’ve had my own business since 1988 writing books and articles, speaking at conferences, and acting as a media spokesperson for food companies. I wrote my first book in 1991 and currently have three books in print: Dining Lean – how to eat healthy when you’re not at home, How to Stay Healthy & Fit on the Road, and Dr. Jo’s No Big Deal Diet. I also sell a set of 30 UV-coated wallet cards that make up “Dr. Jo’s Eat Out & Lose Weight Plan.”

Currently living in Orlando, I enjoy running, kayaking, rollerblading, and just hanging out with friends. My daughter, Allie, is off in college and we get together as frequently as possible.

Margie is a current MBA student at California State University, San Bernardino and is a graduate of the Coach Training Institute (CTI). Eve Salik MS, RD, is the president of Nutrition by Eve, LLC, a private nutrition practice located in Manhattan. Anne Marie is a nutrition and health promotion consultant, speaker and trainer from Pittsburgh, PA. She consults with health plans, in research and university settings, and in industry on the development and implementation of lifestyle-based health and wellness programs. She also works as a behavioral therapist in Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Weight Management and Wellness Center, and is co-founder of Collaborative Change Solutions, LLC, an organization that provides training and consultation to health professionals in the practice and application of Motivational Interviewing.

Anne Marie has a BS in Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh, an MS in Counseling Psychology and MA in Organizational Psychology from Chatham University. She is a board-eligible National Certified Counselor and a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers.

Janet has her Masters degree in Human Nutrition from the University of New Haven and undergraduate degree in psychology from Queens College. Her private practice in Connecticut provides nutritional education and counseling to adolescents and adults. She also works as an evidence analyst for the ADA Evidence-Based Library and volunteers as a consumer peer reviewer for the Cochrane Collaboration, an international non-for-profit organization, providing up to date information about the effects of health care. Janet’s interests in nutrition are varied and when something piques her interest she tends to research it to death. Although a supporter of evidence based research, she also believes in keeping an open mind to new theories and ideas in nutrition that come down the pike and is a great believer in the healing capacity of nutraceuticals. She balances her serious research side with time out for meditation, journal writing and collecting interesting cacti and succulents.
